Doha, the capital of Qatar, is a fusion of traditional Arab culture and the highly modern, with an international flair provided by its diverse expatriate population. Qatar has also has numerous Chinese, Thai and Korean establishments in addition to many places that serve traditional Middle Eastern fare. For something fancy, visit restaurants in the major hotels, which offer nontraditional menu items like sushi. The best time to visit Dubai is during the winter months, from November to April. January and February see heavy tourist traffic because of the Dubai Shopping Festival, which makes the city come alive.
